President Asif Ali Zardari has signed the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (PICA) Act Amendment Bill 2025.

In a statement issued by the President’s House on Wednesday, it was stated that President Asif Ali Zadari has signed the PECA Act Amendment Bill 2025.

According to the declaration, the PICA Act Amendment Bill 2025 has become a law after the President’s signature.

It should be noted that the amendment bill was first approved by the National Assembly on January 23 on behalf of the government and yesterday the upper house also approved the amendment bill, after which it was sent to the President’s House for the President’s signature.

What is PICA Amendment Act?

3 years imprisonment or 20 lakh fine for spreading fake news.

The cyber crime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will be dissolved and a new investigation agency will be set up.

A Social Media Protection and Regulatory Authority will be established which will have the power to access prohibited or obscene content and will also have the power to take action against those involved in sharing the content.

Obscene material and incitement of communal hatred shall be considered an offence.

Violation of copyright will also be dealt with under PICA law.

Action will be taken against those who encourage crime on social media.

Digital Nation Bill also signed.

It was stated in the declaration that the Digital Nation Bill 2025 has also been signed by the President.

The President has also approved the National Commission on the Status of Women Amendment Bill 2025.
